    What is the New Year’s Monster Mash?
    The New Year’s Monster Mash (NYMM) is an end-of-year event and awards show that celebrates the Monster Vtuber community. It takes place on Dec 30st, from 9-11 pm EST.
    What’s our mission?
    We’re here to create a fun event that adds something new to the Monster Vtuber community and look fantastic doing it! This event is an opportunity to meet and learn about some of the amazing streamers in the community and celebrate these very unique Vtubers together.

    Participation

    How does one join this event?
    If you’re a viewer, participating is as easy as finding a Vtuber that will be streaming the event and hopping in their chat! We do have an official Twitch as well, but the content will be best viewed with your favorite streamer.
    For streamers, there are two ways to approach this event. The first is through the “official” channels, and the other is a DIY approach. Because we anticipate this being a large-scale event, we’ll be ticketing the main event so that we can be sure of the enjoyment and safety of our guests.
    There are two kinds of tickets for the event:
    - General Admission Tickets, which gets you entry into the Discord for the event! You'll be able to interact and mingle with all our attendees during the live event.
    - VIP Tickets, which gets you entry into the Discord as well as a feature for the Fashion Walk! All VIP tickets will come with a +1 to join you on your walk as well.
    Nearly all tickets will be given out through free and public channels, with a focus on our awards nominees but also through additional contests and giveaways. Ticketed guests will receive an invitation to our official Discord, where they will get additional information on how to participate in the various events.Even though not everyone will be able to score a ticket, that doesn’t mean you can’t join in the fun! We’ll be hosting the official event through an official Twitch account, so streamers will be able to take a DIY approach by setting that as a background in their broadcasting software and streaming all the events with their friends and community. (We recommend having at least one collaber to stream and enjoy the event with!)If I want to stream it as a ticketed attendee or DIYer, what will I need to do?
    Pretty simple:
    1. Set up your broadcasting software with the official Twitch account’s stream as your background: https://www.twitch.tv/NewYearsMonsterMash
    2. Position your avatar in the bottom-right corner to avoid any overlap with left-aligned hosts or center-aligned content.
    3. Set up a Discord Reactive Image group browser source for the Dance Hall portion: https://discord-reactive-images.fugi.tech/
    4. Be ready to stream when we go live! We’ll have about 10 minutes of go-live time before the event.
    How do I get a ticket to the official event?
    Opportunities to join in the fun will be posted over Twitter and various Discords where the monster community is active. Most tickets will be offered out to nominees of our awards ceremonies, but there will also be contests and giveaways to make sure everyone interested gets a fair chance at a ticket.
    Is this event only for those with large follow counts?
    Not in the least! Last year, most of our guests were small streamers under the 300 follower mark, and nothing's changed in our philosophy this year. Monster Vtubers of all sizes are welcome to participate in the nomination process for the Awards as well as the various giveaways to get a ticket to the event.
    Can I attend the official event if I am a minor?
    For the safety and comfort of all our participants, we require all attendees to be 18 years of age or greater. If you are not at least 18 years of age, you are not eligible for a ticket to attend, but are still welcome to accept nominations & eligible to win an award, and we will work with any under-18 finalists to pre-record an acceptance speech if they should happen to win.
    If I get a ticket, can I bring a guest?
    VIP tickets will come with a +1, but Attendance tickets will not. If you have a VIP ticket, then once you RSVP as having a +1 in the NYMM Discord, a one-use Discord invite link will be sent to you that you can provide to your chosen guest. Due to space constraints, only one +1 will be provided per invitee. Guests do not need to be Monster Vtubers, so please invite whatever friends you think will enjoy it!
    Can I get more than one ticket?
    No; each person can only win one ticket. If more than one ticket is won by a single person (such as by winning two contests that are running simultaneously), that person will be asked to host their own free contest/giveaway for the extra ticket through a public space like Twitter, or to return it so it can be sent on to someone new.
    Do I have to be a Monster to participate in this event?
    Yes and no! There are parts of the event, like the awards ceremonies, that are there specifically for Monster nominees. However, non-Monsters will still have chances to win tickets through contests and giveaways, invitees have no restrictions on who they might invite as a +1, and if you’d like to join the staff, we’ll consider the applications of anyone regardless of their Monster status! And if you do not get a ticket for the main event, you can still participate through a DIY setup with your own stream and community as well.
    Who qualifies as a Monster for the purposes of this event?
    You can answer this by asking one question: "Is this person human?" If the answer is "yes", they are not a monster. If the answer is "no", they are, as long as they also want to be one! (Yes, this includes intelligent animals.)
    Can I get involved behind the scenes?
    The NYMM committee is on the lookout for graphic designers, artists, hosts, musicians, and security personnel.     What awards are there?
    There are ten categories which will be awarded for during the gala:
    - Ultimate Monstuber of 2022
    - Most Unique Debut of 2022
    - Best Duo/Group
    - Best Dressed
    - Best Community Builder
    - Most Artistic
    - Most Charitable
    - Most Likely to Start a Cult
    - Most Likely to be the FINAL BOSS
    - Most Scuffed (previously Most Likely To Have Your Computer Spontaneously Combust While Streaming)
    Who are the finalists?
    How were nominees chosen for the awards?
    Nominations were run publicly through the end of voting through a Google form, advertised via Twitter.
    How are winners chosen among the nominees?
    A public voting period determined our finalists from the nominees, and then finalists were contacted to confirm if they wanted to participate. The top 3 of each category are currently being reviewed by our panel of judges to select a final winner. The winners will be announced live during the event.

    What happens if a staff member is nominated and voted in as a finalist?
    To avoid any appearance of bias, staff are not be able to be confirmed as finalists. Staff members who were voted in as finalists had the option to decline the nomination and continue on as staff, or step down as staff and participate as a finalist instead.
    If I’m a finalist but am unable to attend the event, am I still able to win?
    If a finalist is unable to attend, we are happy to allow a proxy to attend in their place or a pre-recorded video acceptance. Please let us know who the proxy is as soon as possible after making the decision that you cannot attend. If a proxy cannot be found, a staff member will stand in instead. If using a pre-recorded video, please submit it to [email protected] no later than Dec 23rd.

    Event

    What channel will the event be hosted on?
    We will be hosting the event at our official Twitch channel. However, there is no need to attend the “official” host! This event is designed for each individual attendee to be able to stream, and certain mingling portions of the event will in fact be quite boring if you aren’t on a specific streamer’s channel.
    What is the schedule for the night?
    The official timetable will be coming soon! We expect to include a fashion walk, swag bag unveiling, awards ceremony, and musical performance. We welcome and encourage guests to plan their own pre-game and after-parties.
    If I am a VIP ticketed attendee, what do I need to do to be featured in the Red Carpet Walk?
    VIP ticketed attendees and their +1s will all have the opportunity to submit PNGs of them in their gala wear for the red carpet walk! We ask that pictures have transparent backgrounds, so keep that in mind when creating/commissioning your look. These need to be submitted by Dec 4th so that we have time to make the videos for the big day!
    With so many ticketed attendees, how will mingling at the Dance Hall be handled?
    We’ll be creating a large number of voice chat rooms on the Discord. Other than the “General” room, we ask that attendees limit the population in each chat to no more than six at a time so that the groups are small enough that everyone can interact. You can freely click through the different rooms, much like you might physically move from one group to another at a party, in order to meet and mingle with other guests.
    Do I have to mingle if I’m a ticketed attendee?
    We understand that there will be attendees that may not enjoy mingling with strangers. We invite you to instead use your own Discord channels or hop in a voice chat with a friend during this time if that makes you most comfortable - this event is meant to be fun for all, and we don’t want anyone to feel pressured into doing something they do not want to!
    What should I do if I’m mingling and someone is making me uncomfortable or feel unsafe?
    Our Security team is there to handle just such a situation, and you should not hesitate to DM them through Discord. No harassment, hate speech, predatory behavior, or other kinds of misbehavior will be tolerated at this event, and guests who are not acting appropriately may be warned, muted, or escorted out of the server at the call of our Security team.
    If I’m a nominee, will I be expected to speak if I win at the Awards Ceremony?
    Winners will each have time for a brief acceptance of their award. This can be done live, or as a pre-recorded acceptance.
    If I am a ticketed attendee and would like to sing a part during the musical performance, how do I sign up?
    Sign ups will be shared out once our invitee list is finalized, and we will plan to accommodate as many interested guests as possible. Guests must have a PNG of themselves in gala wear to submit in order to participate. Due to latency issues, this performance will need to be recorded ahead of time. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on this!
